Editorial Policy

At Loio, we aim to make legal documents understandable, trustworthy, and practical — even for people without a legal background. Every template on our platform is carefully written, reviewed, and updated so you can confidently create documents that meet legal standards and fit your needs.

This page explains how our templates are developed, what each section of a template page means, and how to interpret the data you see on the screen.

Who Writes and Reviews the Templates?

Each document goes through a two-step creation process: content writing and legal review.

Example:
Written by James Norman | Reviewed by Catherine Smith

Written by:
The author is a content professional who structures the document in a clear, accessible way. They focus on simplifying legal concepts so that anyone can use the template without confusion.

Reviewed by:
The reviewer is a qualified legal expert who checks the document for legal accuracy, compliance with U.S. laws, and practical application. Their role is to ensure the document can be relied on for real-world use.

How Do I Know If a Template Works in My State?

Example:
All states | 3 types

When a page says "All states," it means the document is designed to work in all 50 U.S. states. You don’t need to worry about whether it’s legally valid in your location — we’ve already taken care of that.

The number of types refers to the available legal variations of the same document (e.g., Car Bill of Sale, Motor Boat Bill of Sale, Trailer Bill of Sale, and so on). You can choose the one that fits your needs from the dropdown on the template page.

What Does the Rating Mean?

Example:
⭐ 4.8 (100 reviews)

This is the average rating from people who downloaded and used the template. In this case, the template received a 4.8 out of 5 based on one user review.

We encourage reviews so that new users can make informed decisions based on others' experiences.

What Does the “Updated” Date Mean?

Example:
Updated Jan 23, 2025

This date shows the last time the document was revised. We regularly update templates to reflect new laws, improve usability, or fix issues based on feedback. A recent update date means you're working with the most current version.

How Many Pages Is the Document?

Example:
 ~4 pages

The number of pages tells you the estimated length of the final document once it's filled out. Here, the completed template is about four pages long. Knowing this helps you understand how much information you’ll be working with.

In What Format Will I Receive the Document?

All templates are currently delivered as downloadable PDFs. After you complete a quick and simple online form or contract, you can generate and save your personalized legal document. PDFs are easy to print, share, or sign digitally using Loio Sign.

We are continuously working to improve the platform and will soon offer additional file formats to give users more flexibility when editing and using their documents.

What Does the Download Number Tell Me?

Example:
2.3K downloads

This number shows how many users have downloaded this specific document. In this example, over 2,300 people have chosen the appropriate document — a sign that it's popular and trusted.

Higher download numbers indicate broader use and reliability.

What Are “Template Types” and How Should I Use Them?

At the template pages, you’ll find a section labeled “Template Types.” This is a categorized list of related legal documents grouped by their general use case or purpose.

Each entry includes:

  • The name of the template (e.g., Child Travel Consent Form, Photo Consent Form);
  • short explanation of when or why you'd use that specific document.

This section helps you explore alternatives that may be a better fit based on your legal relationship or use case.

How Does Loio Ensure Document Quality?

Every template is the result of a careful, multi-step process:

  1. Written by an expert who translates legal content into plain, useful language.
  2. Reviewed by a licensed attorney to ensure the legal soundness of every clause.
  3. Regularly updated to stay aligned with new laws and user feedback.

Legal documents are about protecting what matters most — your business, your work, your agreements. We believe you should always know who created your document, who reviewed it, when it was last updated, and how many others have trusted it.

By being transparent about our editorial process, we help you make confident decisions when preparing important paperwork.
